I would probably use this in guided reading groups more so than a read aloud.  Either way it would be very affective.

 

Writing and Speaking:

The students would write a reflection each week on the part of the story we covered.  The students could also do a reader theater or a book trailer for this book.

 This book will be easily integrated into Social Studies
