Title:  Number the Stars

Author: Lois Lowry

ISBN:  9780395510605

This is a fiction book, but is based on some true accounts of a true survivor.  The story is about a girl and her family who are not Jewish, but have very close Jewish friends.  The book talks about their struggles through the German occupation of Denmark.

Rating:

This book is a great way to introduce journaling or diary to students.  It explains that the students do not always have to have a written journal, but the students can also draw or collect things as well and it will tell a story later.
